Welcome to Prowlers Bengals, we hope that you enjoy your visit with us.
We are a small selective in-home cattery, where our kittens are lovingly raised underfoot as part of our family.
The human side of our family consists of myself (Rachelle), Tim and our 6 and 3 year old daughters Brianna and
Mackenzie.
After breeding Abyssinians for 7 years we fell madly in love with the Bengal breed, not only for their undeniable exotic
beauty but also for that hugely confident, chatty and  humorous personality that is so common to the Bengal breed.
Our Bengals are registered with the New  Zealand Cat Fancy  under our cattery prefix of
PROWLERS.
I am also a proud member of The International Bengal Cat Society, The International Bengal Cat Connection, and
have held the position of New Zealand Cat Fancy Bengal Breed Representative for the last two years.

We are actively involved in showing our cats and have been fortunate enough to have been blessed with many
successes and allot of thrills over the last few years.A huge amount of enjoyment in showing is giving the public who
may have never seen a Bengal in *person* before the chance to touch, hold and be wowed by  these magnificent
cats.

Our cats and kittens and the Bengal breed are our hobby, passion, our love and our pride and joy.
We raise our kittens in the way that if we were buying a kitten that we would like it to have been raised.
That is, in our home, involved in our daily activities (and rules) and thereby receiving the continuous interaction,
stimulation, care and love that promotes the development of a confident, loving and highly people orientated
kitten.Being raised in a family environment contribute to the already confident and happy nature of Bengal kittens,
Prowlers babies are extremely people interactive and love the company and playfulness of children.

Each queen gives birth in the safety and quietness of her own birthing room inside our home this is set up with
everything at close hand for deliveries and to allow me to hear her from my bedroom and to also enable her to sit in
the window and look out into the garden.
I have a very strong bond with my girls and each and every pregnancy is special so  I am present at and quietly assist
the queen with each kittening, the girls look for and appreciate the comfort and reassurance during this time. All
pregnancies are carefully planned around our show season so that I will always be there with my girls when they
need me the most.

Prowlers Bengal kittens are imprinted at birth and consistently and gently handled every day until 4 weeks old, at
which time they are usually looking to leave their nest box to adventure and start to investigate solid food. At this
point they are ready to come down to the kitchen where they start the hugely important process of establishing
correct potty training, and become the totally bombproof and happy little kittens that we breed.

We do have a cattery, unfortunately entire adult Males of any breed tend to mark their territory, so our adult boys live
out in the cattery. As do our girls when they are having time out from kittens.
We have put allot of thought into creating a cattery that is a comfortable, roomy and as natural as possible for the
cats. The large houses are all fully insulated with pink bats and lined with lino, shelves to see out the windows and to
sun bath, and the outdoor runs are large and outfitted with large trees, shelves, swinging bridges, catnip, toys and
swimming pools, we also have music playing during the day for them. This ensures that there is plenty of room for
tearing around and plenty of constant visual and physical stimulation. The majority of our Adult cats are harness
trained which enables them to go on walks on our rural property.Since these photos have been taken the runs have
all been laid in paving stones for easier maintenance.

The health and temperaments of both our adults and kittens is first and foremost to us, therefore all of our breeding
cats are routinely blood tested for FIV,  FELV, and Coronavirus, we have started to HCM screen any cats intended
for breeding and will routinely screen every year, and we keep our numbers small so that we can minimise the risk of
health problems that can be associated with bigger catteries.Because of the care that we take and research that we
do to constantly keep on top of the latest in cattery management protocols we are able to offer a full written health
guarantee on all of our Bengal kittens.

After the all important health and temperament we then focus on good correct conformation - strong, sound and
clean bone and type free from structural faults. And then the correct and desired *paint-work*- glitter, large open
spotting or rosettes, clear coats, good clarity, strong wild/exotic looking heads and puffy whisker-pads, whited
tummies etc.
We continue to import new lines to try and keep our gene pool varied, thereby continuing the health and quality of
our beautiful cats. Each cat  brings something special that we are looking for in our Bengal programme. The year
2007 sees huge changes for us with the importing of several cats of superb world renowned pedigrees and quality,
and the addition of Silver to our programme, this will bring marked changes to our programme and I believe that we
have taken one major step forward.Early 2008 and 2009 will see several more planned exciting imported additions
arriving with a huge affect on our marbled programme.

Because of the passion, love and commitment that we have for our cats and kittens that we breed we offer and
encourage friendly ongoing support to all of our kitten and cat owners, we love to hear and see photos of how all of
our babies are growing, and are available throughout the lifetime of your kitten/cat.
