Welcome to Prowlers Bengals feeding page. I decided to create this page after I realised that feeding was one of the most commonly asked questions when people were enquiring about a kitten or had come out to view the cats and kittens . This is a page to give you an idea on how we feed our Bengal cats and kittens and to give you an idea of the what we believe is an excellent all round diet that suits the cats at Prowlers Bengals.I hope that you find it useful and if you have any question feel welcome to ask. At Prowlers Bengals we acknowledge the fact that cats are obligate carnivores and we feed them as such. A cats whole digestive system and metabolism is centered around the fact that they are meat eaters, and Bengals especially so. And so we feed raw meat...... and lots of it.Because of the high nutritional needs of breeding cats we do feed a premium dry food but this is only as an extra to their fresh meat, also because of the fact that kittens will be moving into homes where they will most likely be fed dry food it is important that they are well established on a wide variety of foods before they leave so that this transitional period is easier for them with a lower chance of an upset tummy due to diet change. Bengals just love raw meat. From the age of four weeks of age when they first leave the box Bengal kittens will make their way to their Mothers food bowl and though they have a choice of foods every kitten always chooses fresh meat as their first attempt at a solid food.At this stage the babies will share meals with their Mum and eat the same food the only difference being is that their meat is painstakingly snipped up with scissors into baby kitten bite sizes, they also have available to them their first dry food. We feed the premium brand ROYAL CANIN to all the cats and at this age the babies can help themselves to Royal Canin *Baby Cat*, special sized food for tiny baby mouths. At 7-8 weeks old they have available to them Royal Canin *Kitten* food for older kittens..A sample bag of Royal Canin Kitten leaves with each kitten in their personalised kitten pack to start them off in their new home. Our adult Bengal cats are fed Royal Canin *Sensible* an easily digestible dry food that suits their sometimes sensitive digestive systems and balances well with our raw meat feeding regime to keep our breeding and show cats in excellent condition. All of our cats and kittens are fed a wonderful vitamin and mineral supplement called *MYBEAU*, a highly palatable oil based supplement especially formulated by Massey University to meets the nutritional needs of cats and kittens and to keep their digestive system healthy. This is fed every couple of days with their meat and they love it. All of the cats and kittens are feed a variety of raw fresh meats including beef, kangaroo, rabbit, chicken, fish, some offals and eggs. With beef and Kangaroo mix being their primary meats. Bengals are big cats with high energy levels even (especially) as kittens and they have big appetites. They have their fill of fresh meats and the adults have a set amount of dry food. Kittens and pregnant and nursing mothers have access to dry food constantly, canned foods for breakfast- usually Fancy Feast, Dine and Gourmet, and their fresh meat at night. Adult cats and older mature kittens have a raw chicken neck a couple of times a week to sit with and have a good gnaw on, it works their jaw muscles, clean their teeth and they seem to enjoy it.Unlike the adults kittens don't have access to raw chicken or chicken necks until over 3 months old. We also make own *Cooked Chicken in Jelly* for Mums and babies as an alternative to canned foods. We never give any of the Bengals milk of any kind unless we are supplementing a nursing kitten, their digestive systems just can't tolerate it, they love water to drink and play in, they do best on simple unprocessed foods.
